Shrimati Thokchom Ningol Chongtham ongbi Sanatombi Devi was born on October, 1938 at Silhet Khunou, Bangladesh.
Sanatombi Devi was the daughter of Chongtham Joykishore Singh and Dhanabati Devi.
The family shifted to Nabadweep when Sanatombi was only 9 years old.
Sanatombi Devi started learning music from Guru Wangoi Chaobi Devi and continued learning Nimai Sanyas, Manbhajan, Nouka Bilas under famous teachers like Anand Peibya, Moirangningthou and Japantonu.
Sanatombi Devi passed audition at AIR Guwahati in 1960 and from then on she came out as full-fledged singer.
She had participated in many national and international shows.
She was the Music Instructor of All India Child Welfare Office, Imphal and also taught music at ISCKON School.
Her audio cassette on Geet Govind, Purnamala and other bhajan had been released.
Sanatombi Devi had been honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award by Roop Raag, Imphal, Certificate of Honour (Adhunik) 1992 by Former Minister RK Ranbir Singh and Sangeetbhusan Upadhi, 2010 by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad.
In recognition of her contribution to Manipuri music, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Imphal, on the 83rd Annual Conference, had conferred ‘Sangeetratna(Matam Eshei)’ to Thokchom Ningol Chongtham ongbi Sanatombi Devi.
