The synoptic view of SUNRISE Relief Trip to Nepal
May 24, 2015:
A team of SUNRISE (an NGO for better Manipur), comprises of 5 members including doctors and nurses has made a relief trip to Nepal from 6th of May, 2015 to 17th of May, 2015. The team has departed India from Vijay Nagar,New Delhi with a flag off ceremony on 6th May, 2015 at 11pm and returned back at around 2am of 17th May, 2015.
Our priority was to reach the unreached and far flung area most likely those earthquake affected villages in Sindhupal Chawk district and Gorkha district to serve them in what all possible way we can, irrespective of physical, mental and financial aspects. As per planned, SUNRISE performed its every noble action in consultation with the respective CDOs, Indian Army, Villagers and Indian Embassy in Nepal.
Most of the delegated authority, NGOs & foreigners who came there for relief work failed to reach those villages like Barpak, Larkpak, etc. where there was no any means of transportation other than walk. But we by hardcore enthusiasm managed to reach Barpak and Larpak village which is 3232m and 4306m above the sea level. It took almost two days to climb the mountain to reach such villages along with all those relief materials.
Later we were accompanied by a team of Indian Army through choppers (helicopter) and extend our possible assistance to the villagers. The main relief materials that SUNRISE carried to its relief trip and being distributed accordingly was Tent (for homeless people), Medic Aid (for injured people), Door to door treatment campaign by our doctors, Food and Blanket (for those earthquake affected people) and Money.
SUNRISE is a voluntary, non profit, non-governmental organization which was established in 2012 as a registered Trust that conduct the policy, action and affairs under Manipur State in order to improve the youth welfare programs and promotion of games and sports in Manipur.
