The holy Joes : Perverts on the prowl : Disgusting, abhorrent
- Sangai Express Editorial :: July 02 , 2013 -
Perverts. They come in dime a dozen under different cloaks and masks.
From the infamous Jacob John, under the cloak of a man of God, who reportedly ravaged, molested and even raped minor girls in the dubious Home at Jaipur to the perfectly normal men on the streets who do not hesitate to outrage the modesty of young girls and young boys, they all come in different shapes and sizes.
As things stand today, at this very moment, it appears that the uniform they wear and by extension the authority that the uniform signifies has come to camouflage the perverts in the four IRB personnel who have been accused of video taping the a young woman and a young man in the nude and uploading it on a social networking site.
Making it out in the woods is certainly not acceptable, but more unacceptable is the very act of filming the couple in the nude, with the camera zooming in on their faces and private parts and uploading it on the net.
That the nude pictures have gone viral is a fact and maybe it is this which helped Churachandpur police to act swiftly and round up the suspects in good time.
A good work done and something which should be acknowledged.
Anyone who has seen the graphically depicted video clipping would be left flabbergasted and disgusted, that is for those who do not have a pervert side to their personality.
The ethics of moral policing in itself is highly questionable, but what happened at the wooded areas near Khuga Dam in Churachandpur district a few days back had nothing to do with moral policing.
It was nothing less than the perverted mindset of the four men in uniform coming to the fore.
The final word is yet to be said of course and at the moment they are suspects not convicts, but what has unfolded is a reflection of the mental depravity of some individuals.
Not a rape case. But that does not make the incident any less abhorrent.
The sadistic pleasures that the men with the camera derived from the incident, the gumption of uploading it on the net may not technically qualify as a rape case, but the humiliation of the young man and woman is complete. This is beyond human behaviour.
In the very act of filming the couple in the nude, the IRB personnel, presuming they are guilty, may also be accused of misusing their official positions.
Something which should not be tolerated at any cost.
Now that Churachandpur police have managed to round them up, after talking to the victims and obviously after watching the video clips, their job now is to build a strong case against the accused.
Let this also be a lesson to others, who are under the impression that moral policing is their birth right.
It was not so long ago that a young girl along with her male companion was dragged out of a seedy restaurant, assaulted and paraded with some media houses gleefully covering the entire episode and even publishing the pictures of the hapless girl.
Adopting a high moral stand cannot get more twisted and alarming than this. Public humiliation can never be the answer to keep the moral fabric of society intact.
In uploading the video clip on the net, the young Churachandpur girl must have died a hundred times.
Full credit should be given to the Joint Women’s Organisation of the district for taking up the matter on the right path.
The act of the individual, who lodged the complaint with the police should also be acknowledged. Moral policing should not be about subjecting anyone to public humiliation.
This is the lesson that should be drawn from the disgusting incident at Churachandpur a few days back.
