The Proud Buffalo
Once upon a time in the land of Meitei, there lived a buffalo by the name "Meitei Ngamba".
He was so self centered and proud and always thought, "I am the strongest, most handsome animal living here".
One fine morning, as Meitei Ngamba came chanting proudly, "Where are my pars, lets meet, lets fight" suddenly step on a heap of cow dung.
Meitei Ngamba was shocked when the flies (tumit) on the cow dung shouts at the top of their voice, "Who is this ignorant fool, don't you see somebody's house here, don't start with us or we will kill you".
With high sarcasm, he called out, "Who are you? I cannot see you but your voice is like a thunder". So a heated argument started between the two.
The argument leads to a fight between the two, Meitei Ngamba and the flies.
The flies entered Meitei Ngamba's eyes, nose, ears etc to which he could not bear. He ran into the bushes, water and mud but the flies still bite him.
At last he went up to Koubru, and ask the Almighty Father, "Oh! Father, I can no more bear the torture, please help me King of Gods".
The Almighty told him the consequences of being so proud of oneself, and then pacified the matter.
There is nothing worst then being proud of oneself. Even a big buffalo is defeated by the small flies.
