The Portrait of an Old Man
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Radhakumar *
A sorry sight!
The way things have turned out
A sorry sight it is.
My life!
My life is such a mess...
What is the way out?
A way out
From the mess I have got into!
Sons of bitches!
Obscene language?
No.
I just give out a yell.
Sons of bitches, myself included
All in the mess.
Youth and romance came;
They came hand in hand.
But I did not go hand in hand
With the one I would like to go with.
I saw youth and romance pass by.
Desperately I fought back the tears of pain.
Yes, tears of pain.
Are you getting old?
Do not think
An old man does not shed tears of pain.
The old man is not content,
Life would drive him into a frenzy.
In the mess he is in
He cries at the top of his voice
You SOB!
I cry obscenities at myself
Not at anybody.
A string of obscenities!
I say it is not obscene language;
It is just a cry
A cry
Out of all the fullness of my interests.
Life is a bastard of a problem.
A real bastard.
