The NIA gets hyper active
- Hueiyen Lanpao Editorial :: April 29 2011 -
THE NIA is singing on a high note these days. They keep chiselling away, drilling, lifting every stone and sniffing at every hole to find clues of an elusive opponent called 'pro Manipur'. They are witless when it comes to finding opponents in other parts of India where they prefer to remain crouched and hushed.
In Manipur they are busy bees working overtime to find and collect data to arrest a notion called 'We are different'. They have illuminated their minds to spot an adversary, little realising that the foe does not possess a physical form but that it exists only as an idea.
It is very much like 'The Hunting of the Snark' in Alice's adventures written by Lewis Carroll. In that adventure the Snark hunters travelling by ship are excited about the hunt and it bothers little that they have no inkling whatsoever of what their adversary looks like.
The captain, just to keep their spirits up used to furiously tingle the bell to remind all they were on an important mission.
But what is the NIA doing in Manipur? It keeps asking questions the answers of which they already know.
More pertinent, they may not realise this, interested people in the world have them under the scanner.
The knowledgeable are fighting hard to suppress squeals of laughter as the NIA attempt to nab an adversary who is cloaked by their own ignorance. Ultimately they will have to consider Plan B, that is if they have one.
The obnoxious thing about the NIA is that it reeks of an odious disregard of humanity.
It seems they have no consideration of how people, over the centuries gather a history of which they are proud of. It also stinks of an inability to live on common grounds with other human beings.
Further it exhales foul breath on a tiny piece of land their bosses had snatched from an imperial power.
Little do they realise they are buttressing an idea, a force that will ultimately deny them any access.
In that scenario they will have to resort to espionage and depend on paid informers. Till then one can only say, be careful of the hive you are fiddling with. It is a hornet's nest.
The NIA may be day dreaming that it is all set to corner an outfit or outfits but it will get stung by public repugnance.
Why? One could ask does the public support one outfit?
Not quite so. It will be because of its nauseating habit of viewing history through its narrow eyes.
Their bosses have been told and retold they are looking at history from the wrong end.
But if they are beyond reasoning why bother telling them that they are proceeding to a blind alley?
There are medicines to cure even mental illnesses, but so far the human race with all its resources have not found a remedy for steadfast ignorance.
