The Moon is Never Full
K. Radhakumar *
It is summer;
It is hot, very hot here.
The place is full of insects
The annoying little insects
And I am badly bitten.
It is now high summer;
I have done everything
To ward off
The annoying little insects
But to no avail.
Just living life is;
Hopes are raised and dashed many times.
In my dream last night
I was sitting with my love
In a theatre watching a play
A play based on my life.
At the halfway stage
My love turned into an apple.
There was no preparation
For this denouement
In the last acts of the play.
The moon is not full,
The sky is not clear
But I have to sleep
To have a very full life
For my retirement is drawing near.
