The Jaipur Case - II
- Hueiyen Lanpao Editorial :: March 26, 2013 -
Proving our critics wrong, and that our 'suspicion' was not mere figment of our imagination, now, the cat is finally out of the bag.
The names of the local middlemen behind the trafficking of children, who were rescued from two illegal children home at Jaipur, Rajasthan and run by one Jacob John aka Pastor John from Kerala, have been revealed.
President of Tangkhul Shanao Long, Delhi (TSLD) Felicita Shongvah has named Lungnem Vashi of Tuinem village in Ukhrul district and AS Worthingla of Khamasom Khullen, also in Ukhrul district, as the local middlemen or women, who have been responsible for the ordeal gone through by the young kids and their poor parents, whom, we are sure, must be having nothing but the well-being of their kids in their minds when they handed over their children to the custody of Lungnem Vashi or AS Worthingla for taking them to the 'torture homes' of Jacob John aka Pastor John.
The modus operandi is also becoming more clearer like day light.
It has been learnt that Lungnem Vashi's sister is married to the younger brother of Jacob John, and that is how the 21 children from Manipur including 17 from Ukhrul, 3 from Tamenglong and one from Chandel district landed into the two 'torture houses' run by Pastor John at Jaipur.
This is also the precise reason why Lungnem Vashi and AS Worthingla are trying to secure the release of Pastor John from the custody of Jaipur Police.
An interesting twist in the story, however, is the Congress man and friend of Pastor John, who threatened the joint team of child rights activists and members of TSLD, when they went to raid the Jaipur 'torture houses' once again on March 24 to rescue two more missing kids from Ukhrul.
The Congress man may have disappeared when a media team called by the raiding team arrived, but his threat to the raiding team that Rajasthan is a State ruled by Congress party is something that has struck us hard, especially in the light of the 'silence' maintained by the Congress-led Government here in the State over the whole issue.
The threat of the Congress man to the raiding team in Jaipur, the 'silence' of the Congress Government here and the complete blank-out of the whole issue from giving coverage in some sections of local media, particularly those related to the districts where the rescued kids belong, seems to have fitted together all the pieces perfectly over what we have noted earlier of a far more sinister 'politico-media nexus' deep down than what we could see with our eyes on the surface of rescuing the trafficked kids from Jaipur.
Regardless of whether the allegation is true or false, since the matter has come to this point, the elected Congress-led Government in the State should not remain silent any more but coordinates with its Rajasthan counterpart for bringing back all the rescued as well as two missing kids home for necessary rehabilitation so to restore the faith of the people.
There is also an urgent need on the part of the NGOs working in the field to ensure that poor parents and their children do not fall prey to mercenary-missionaries on the look for foreign funding at the cost of our young children, who are future of the society.
