Thadou-Kuki (MIL) subject at secondary school level
Date - 14th October, 2016
The Thadou Students’ Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ), after having worked relentlessly for the welfare of student community in relation to Thadou-Kuki (MIL) subject at secondary school level for Manipur, would like to inform all concerned:-
i. That, as per Orders of Education Department (School) dated the 1st and 11th July 2016, the Government of Manipur is pleased to implement Thadou-Kuki (MIL) subject in all the Government Higher Secondary Schools of Manipur from this academic year.
ii. That, due to delay in intimation of the orders by the officials concerned, Thadou-Kuki (MIL) could not be implemented in a few schools where it has not yet been on offer.
iii. That, an assurance was given by the newly reconstituted Thadou-Kuki Literature Committee that lecturers for Imphal areas will be provided, with special classes, even after three months lapse in the current academic session if there is a possibility of implementation despite completion of registration in the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM). Subsequently, we met the Principals of CC Hr. Sec. School, Johnstone Hr. Sec. School, TG Hr. Sec. School and Ibotonsana Hr. Sec. School.
iv. That, all the Principals of the said schools assured TSA that if registration process of the students regarding subject combinations can be altered, necessary arrangement to offer Thadou-Kuki (MIL) subject in the current academic session will be put in place. And in case this is not possible, the principals have assured to implement it by next year without any hassle. Consequently, a TSA team met the Secretary, COHSEM and the Controller of Examination, COHSEM and had a discussion on the issue.
v. That, COHSEM authority assured us of including Thadou-Kuki (MIL) as one of the elective subjects in place of Alternative English in all the Hr. Sec. Schools in Manipur by next academic session i.e., 2017-18 as they have already completed the process of registration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
vi. While we apologies to the current and previous students for the inconvenience caused due to unavailability of Thdou-Kuki (MIL) at higher secondary level during their time, we look forward to begin it in the next academic year.
