"Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"
Just as it always does since the ancient of times, the sun makes its steady journey towards the day end, flickering its last gentle rays towards the eastern highs and lows, engulfing the scenic glory in a stream of warmth and sunshine. From a distant grey of the fields, the harvesters returned in a scattered merry and then the labour and toils of the year done. I pray, God bless them in the abundance of their toils! The early buds of the winter breeze announces their arrival as they gently glide past by.
Such peace, such calm! The Maker's delight! A reminder of the glorious day ahead, Christmas! December, and yes, Santa's back in town! A time for peace and a time for great rejoicing!
Christmas season, as a boy, it was all about Christmas Putar (Santa Claus), shopping in a dandy delights with my Pa (RIP and much Love) in the ups and downs of Tipaimuk Road, a yearning sensations for the new clothes I got to wear on Christmas day, the freedom from books, the fulfillment of freedom and peace played in the abundance of gladness shared with mates without the poison of the forbidden fruit, the chimes of a myriad Christmas bell and the grand feast of peace there after; and such was Christmas!
The reality of Christmas dawns in clearer as I learn to unravel the secret about Santa. But then, I began to slowly drift afar from the purpose of the glorious day. The purpose of Christmas was more lived in the innocence of a boy than as a grown adult. Joy and bitterness, that was then and now!
The whole purpose of Christmas, I believe, is for Christ to usher in peace among mankind, and most of all peace between heaven and earth, God and His children. As a layman placing my faith upon Christianity, for me, that is Christmas. To attain and teach peace, I believe, that is the essence of every religion. Religion is beautiful, but the politics we have played out of its sanctity drags the devil in to paint its darn ugliness.
And when the devil lurks, reality feels a fainted show and goodness, love, compassion, generosity, understanding, forgiveness takes a back seat ride. When such fine values are ignored and worn upon only as a décor to whitewash our way into sainthood, then the reality of goodness becomes a rotten golden glitters.
And for such reason the world is what it is now. Dou you see peace? Do you feel peace? The answer to those are in the reality of our existence that we have brought upon ourselves and our world. Peace is often talked about, but noNation/race/society/individuals intent to thread upon its path. And when such is the reality, peace feels a million miles afar in our generously selfish civilized contemporary world.
Peace is attained when lived in it! Conference, talks, debates, songs, poetry, diplomacy, placards; all of these beautiful intents seems a mere intent looking at the world we are creating everyday through our motives, decisions and actions.
What the world needed most is peace to reign among humanity, the rest of creations are already in perfect tandem and as they should be. Will humanity dare to see that truth? Will we dare to guide our thoughts and actions by it? Until humanity learns to live by the ways of peace, would there be a possibility to attain and live a moment of peace? I greatly doubt!
And would I be wrong to say that the only possible way to live peace a reality is to understand and communicate in the Language of God –Love and Forgiveness! And would we dare to? Jesus Christ lived in the reality of that language and was born a human – flesh and blood, with an intent to Love and Forgive, which he does in great humbleness, grace and majesty.
I pray, one day, we all may yet learn to love and forgive and be blessed with the reality of that calm! God speed such day! If our beautiful land live a year of Peace sans fear, prejudice, oppression, would I be too daring to say that our land would see a ten fold growth and prosperity in every spheres of activities and walk of life? But do forgive if I may be wrong!
Peace is attained and lived when we are in perfect harmony with our surroundings; peace is attained and lived when the measuring scale is in exact balance; peace is attained and lived when we reign on our grudges and interest; peace is attained and lived when our deeds manifest in the forms of love and forgiveness! And is there any other ways around?
The world have tried its ways and we have made a fine mess out of it. Refugees, migrant crisis, skirmishes, nuclear showdown, border fencing……. and such are the end products of our quest. Then the world seems too proud about its achievements! And so leaders of the world brags on in complete competence of their accomplishments in the podium of the great. All the while, our world burns in the torment of their accomplishments! When goodness comes in with interest, such tragic happens. Sad but true!
With all the flaws and ugliness we have chiselled and created, how strange, God does still sees hope in humanity! AGAPE! We are worth the comfort of Heaven and Jesus walked a man. And that is our worth! Heaven sees our purpose of existence and placed our worth upon that.
And a Child is born! And that is our worth! Strange though, how the devil had blinded us all to be not able to see and walk in that Worth! When we truly acknowledge our worth, I believe, only then can we acknowledge the worth of our beautiful world that we have selfishly shared with so many other precious creations.
This Christmas, I do hope and pray that we all are blessed with a profound peace so that each of us could take a walk toward our worth! Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
