Talk with Mizoram government representatives on double murder case
A talk between the representatives of the government of Mizoram and WMC were held in the Mizoram House, New Delhi on 15th February 2022 to find out ways to resolve the issues arising out from the double murder of Keisham Prabin Singha and Namram Nipen Singha in Mizoram on 31st January 2022 and 8th February 2022 respectively, both residence of Cachar district of Assam.
Mizoram government was represented by Mr. Rosangzuala, OSD to the Chief Minister and WMC was led by Ms Mayanglambam Diana, Vice President of WMC Delhi unit.
It may not be out of context to mention that the Secretary General, WMC Mr. Yambem Arun Meetei joined the meeting via video conferencing from Bangalore and the Hon'ble CM Mr. Zoramthanga calling up his OSD from Aizawl to enquire the progress of the talk.
The talk between the two parties agreed to :
1. Handover the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the Mizoram government
2. WMC would withdraw the blockade on Silchar-Aizwal National Highway on February 21, 2022, the day of the last rites of the 2nd victim and
3. WMC would be following up the issue to ensure that justice is delivered.
The two parties have agreed to work for improving the communal relations existing between the different communities living in the region.
The OSD had also invited WMC to Aizawl to meet the Chief Minister or the Home Minister of Mizoram for further discussion. WMC is also working to take along members of the victims families and genuine members of CSOs who have all along been working to get justice in all our future course of action.
