Take a bow, Sharmila
- Bengal group stages play on Manipur crusader today
The Telegraph| Dipanjan Sinha | Calcutta, Nov. 14:
Irom Sharmila will take centrestage in Calcutta’s cultural heart. Not in person but in purpose, as the theatre group Rangroop stages its play, Chhayapathh, inspired by her life and 14-year-long protest against the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act in Manipur, at the Academy of Fine Arts here tomorrow.
The play is about a young girl with predictable dreams of completing higher education in a reputed university in New Delhi and then embarking on a happy life. Things do not turn out as planned and the realities of life and our country unravel for her in stages leaving her a changed person.
