ROLE OF THE WOMEN AS MOTHERS:
The parents also need to play a very constructive part on it. There are many instances in which parents infuse the 'hatred feeling' towards other ethnic group which in the long run cause social tension. Women as mothers need to deliver the social role of being the peace-messengers.
Every woman is not a mother but there must be yearning for every woman to become a mother. Any woman who instills the sense of hatred to her children cannot be a mother. She is a satan who is trying to end the creation of god with war and enmity sown by her in their minds.
Our cable and newspaper media can contribute a lot in this sphere by publishing/showing Naga women mothering Kuki children or Meetei women mothering Naga children. They might have suffered ethnic prejudice from time to time.
We can make a Women Welfare Branch to handle cases of such inter-ethnic intercourse when the need arises. Life of such women who spent their life among fellow-strangers as mother could change the ethnic stereotyping of our people.
The greatest role of the girls/women/mothers in N-E India must be to instill the sense of oneness to their children cutting across the narrow lines of ethnicity and linguistic barriers.
GLOBAL SCENARIO:
The Israelites had suffered a lot in the hands of the Arabs and are suffering and will continue to suffer in their so-called 'Promised Land'. If there is any such 'Promised Land' on earth, that must be the 'Garden of Eden' before Adam and Eve sinned.
The present state of Israel is a "Cursed Land" where innocent lives cry every day and night for their lost children and dear ones. It is the true example of lawless country trotted by lawless people.
Even if it is the 'Promised Land' of the Jews, that day will come only when the tormented souls of many uprooted Arabs and Jews hug each other forgetting their past misdeeds. That day will be the 'Promised Day' on which God will deliver eternal bliss to the Jews. How many Israelites have a peaceful sleep without fearing a rocket falling on their roof-top? A new light in the horizon has come before our eyes.
The European Union (EU) is the highly acclaimed design on earth which has successfully integrated the traditional enemies like France, Italy, Germany, the UK etc.
In addition to these traditional enemies, the EU has succeeded far and wide to transcend the 'iron curtain' of Europe which marked the Cold war division of this continent into Western and Eastern Europes. There has been an enlargement of the EU (membership from six to 27) including many erstwhile Soviet Bloc republics.
A new chapter has begun in the history of the people of Europe in 2004 when the 'European Neighbourhood Policy' (ENP) was introduced to make Europe a safe place for the Europeans by making its neighbors their well-wishers and friends.
The coming of the international terrorism in the world political and military scene has left Europe conscious of her limitations despite her military superiority. So as to avoid the recurrence of 9/11 type of terrorist attacks in the soil of Europe, they are creating a ring of friends surrounding Europe.
The EU is seeking to stimulate democracy and economic development beyond its borders through its European Neighbourhood Policy. Thus, sixteen neighbouring countries to the East and south of the EU's 27 member states benefit from the ENP.
This European security strategy speaks of the need to have our peace and stability guaranteed by the external conditions in our neighbourhood. We can learn good lessons from ENP.
