National Mahila Morcha BJP supports Sharmila on International Women’s Day
The Bharatiya Janata Party, National Mahila Morcha observes International Women’s day at the residence of Smt Naorem Ibemcha Devi, National Special Invitee, BJP Mahila Morcha at Iroisemba. Several Women leaders of BJP also joined the event which is supporting Irom Chanu Sharmila, the iron Lady of Manipur who’s fasting for one and half decades.
With Solidarity and demanding the repeal of AFSPA in the state, today’s event pledge to support the struggle of Irom Sharmila.
Speaking at the function, Smt Naorem Ibemcha Devi opinined that International Women’s day would be incomplete and meaningless without remembering and recognizing the supreme sacrifice and struggle of Sharmila. The Mahila Morcha of BJP will support the struggle and discuss the issue with National Mahila Morcha leaders for necessary action. She said, “We have submitted the memorandum regarding repeal of AFSPA to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi when he was in Manipur last time.”
Other leaders also talked of gender equality and status of women in the state. Observing such day and supporting anti AFSPA crusader, Irom Sharmila is a proud moment for the National Mahila Morcha of BJP.
The gathering discusses about proposal to implement Women’s reservation Bill to empower Women in the State and Country. And also strengthening the status of Women in the state through various skills and schemes announced by Centre for the welfare of Women.
