Summer Birds
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Radhakumar *
I have been living a dream
In the noisy world.
I've decided to grow a beard
And will also wear my smartest clothes
On the D-Day
And make the right noises.
Chirrup…Chirrup.
It's summer now
And small birds are seen in the morning sky
I crane my neck out of the window
And ask a question.
I don't know if I am asking a great deal
When I ask
Is there anything in your chirrup?
I wish my summer was here to stay
But my world dies young.
In the evening
I take a shot of a whiskey and soda,
But has little or no effect;
First a glass, then another and then another
And I live
Like there's no tomorrow.
Yes, there's only one shot in life
And I'll give it my best shot.
Why waste your energy your life
By dreaming of tomorrow!
What will be, will be.
Tomorrow is present in the very heart of today
And today is pregnant with
The living images of yesterdays.
I am also drunk with
The present moment or the only reality
And with time also as a non-existent entity.
My wife and I
We agree to differ on this
And on love also.
But she is my wife,
I am her husband
And we have four children.
