Students protest against 'controversial death'

Manipur police Monday directed police stations, particularly in valley areas, to put its personnel on alert even as police in Imphal have been forced to cut-short a protest rally of students on the streets in Imphal city.
The student bodies are planning to launch government closer campaign with effect from May 8, Tuesday. While informing that volunteers of six student bodies are likely to resort to violent activities during their campaign, all the police stations, particularly in valley areas have been asked to put their personnel on alert.
Civil police have also been ordered to have a close vigilant in and around the government offices in their respective area of operation, an official source said.
