State has no say in ILP implementation, says Conrad
Assam Tribune | Shillong, Nov 15:
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today clarified that the State Government has no authority over implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP), and that it is the Parliament which alone can take a decision on the subject.
“Implementation of the ILP is not within the jurisdiction of the State Government or the district council. The Parliament can enact it,” he said when reporters sought his response to Shylla’s demand. The Chief Minister said that due to the public concern over influx, the issue of implementation of the ILP has come up. But the ILP is not the only way to check influx as there are other mechanisms too.
