Spring Fever
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Radhakumar *
A sigh escapes my wife's lips:
I do not like
Whoever I have made of myself thus far.
It gives me a nasty shock
For I have been working hard
To punch the right keys of my computer
To welcome and meet the new season
When winter is gone
And summer is far away.
My wife alienated from her husband!
My wife alienated from her surroundings!
The whole winter she has escaped
Into a dream world of her own
And she wakes up to find herself alone –
She is sorry the world does not contain her.
After fifty years here
She still feels her roots are not here.
The woman who is utterly divorced from reality
Picks a quarrel
With a flesh-and-blood woman,
A mother of four children –
The two are one and the same
And are my wife.
Why should they quarrel about life?
And what is life?
If life is a dream,
Then it is a dream.
If life wakes up from a deep sleep
And a wonderful dream,
So be it.
Waking moments alone do not make a day.
Life is in continual process of
Sleeping, dreaming and waking.
Wake up and smell the coffee!
Wake up!
Spring is here
And Holi is here.
Let us celebrate Holi
By scattering gulal on each other.
Let us dance
Like the proud pea-cock
And it will not be long
Before the pea-hen gives a coy smile.
Let us sing,
Let us play with coloured powder
And make life colourful.
