Sound of Flute mesmerises Imphal audience

Renowned flutists Arcadio Baracchi from Italy, Pandit Chetan Joshi from Delhi and Laishram Brajakumar Singh from Manipur today gave captivating performances at the Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium here in Imphal.
The Flute Concert is being organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Regional Office, Shillong in collaboration with the Department of Art & Culture, Govt. of Manipur, as a part of the 7th Edition of Raasrang World Flute Festival 2016.
The festival is dedicated to Global Peace and spread the beauty of Wind Instruments from all over the world.
Speaking on the occasion, Her Excellency, the Governor of Manipur Dr. Najma Heptulla, who attended the occasion as Chief Guest, said, “Flute music is a pure music of India, and this wind instrument, which is one of the oldest musical instruments of the world, is associated with Lord Krishna.

The mystical sound of the flute has affected not only the human beings but also all the animals and other living creatures over centuries. It propagates the message of spiritual love and global peace. Manipur, a land rich in art and culture, is one such place associated with Lord Krishna and the flute.”
“In today’s world, we need cultural binding rather than political binding to bring global peace. And flute is such a unique musical instrument which binds this nation with its sweetness", Dr. Najma Heptulla further stated.
The highlight of today’s concert was the fusion performance by the renowned flutists on the popular tune “We shall overcome someday...”
