Shillong Lajong FC Re-Signs Uilliams Bomfim Souza
Shillong Lajong Football Club is pleased to announce the re-signing of Brazilian Forward Uilliams Bomfim Souza for the forthcoming I-League Season.
The Brazilian striker began his journey with the North East I-League Club in the Summer of 2013 and played an integral role in his debut season. Lajong ended the 2013-14 I-League Season in the sixth position under the direction of Head Coach, Thangboi Singto.
The soft spoken versatile foreigner continued to impress the Lajong Coaches and Management with his passion and commitment towards the game and was recruited in the following year for the second consecutive season.
Uilliams is known for his fast pace, quick feet, power in the attacking third and Goal scoring ability that include long rangers. Lajong Head Coach Thangboi Singto regards him as a team player both on and off the field. Having the advantage of experience in the I-League and the understanding of the Team Philosophy under Coach Thangboi Singto, Uilliams will have added responsibilities on his shoulder at the front for the Reds.
Head coach Thangboi Singto explained his reasons for retaining Uilliams at the Club and said, “Uilliams has done very well for the Club in the past two seasons. His performance both on and off the field has been good. This year we expect more from him to contribute towards the team and also to be a leader in the team.”
“I was very clear on my decision to retain him. He scored 7 goals last season. I know that the kind of contribution he can provide to the team and could excel in his performances if he remains fit and highly motivated.”
“We are hoping to do better, sweat more, and achieve higher this season. All the Lajong Faithfuls also need to be together and united, and support the club always.”
