- Manipur group vows to bridge gap between hills and plains
The Telegraph | Khelen Thokchom | Imphal, Oct 11
Senior Citizens for Society, a body of senior citizens from all walks of life of Manipur, today vowed to play a "major role" in bridging the gap between the people in the hills and the plains
The chief minister had consulted representatives of the Society during the intense agitation in support of inner-line permit earlier this year. Ibobi Singh is also understood to have met the Society on the ongoing agitation by Kukis demanding a separate administration in Manipur.
The Society today held its annual conference and discussed the present unrest in the hill districts in the wake of the passing of the Protection of Manipur People Bill, Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (Seventh Amendment) Bill and Manipur Shops and Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill by the state Assembly on August 31.
