Introduction:
The region Northeast India composed of eight small states connected with the rest of India by a small ‘chicken neck’ corridor at Siliguri and is blessed with natural beauties and abundant large resources. The region today’s is one of the most conflict hotspot regions in South East Asia holding into ransom people freedom, democracy and development. The people are living in a state of threats, turmoil, tensions and traumas caused by both Arms Opposition Groups and militarization for decades now.
The civil societies remain a mere silent spectator. As the need to realize the futilities of insurgencies and conflicts and to increase getting vocal in demanding the state of conflict and tensions to ends increased, the role of Civil Societies become a new challenge. Government agencies have come up to restore normalcy in the region with different methods and actions, their efforts were met with failure.
The regional conflict have different reason and causes to the conflict which are behinds the economic, social, political and even cultural issues, and they need to be analyses, deliberated and clearly understand. The successive governments and law makers consider the region only for ethnic conflicts, terrorist and secessionist without looking into the ‘root and causes’ only further accelerated the situation worse. The issues of armed conflict and how civil society can initiate peace process in the region is an alternative can be new and most viable solution to ends conflict in the region.
At this backdrop, the seminar will deliberate on issues pertaining to why conflict occurred, how to solve and on what methods; will finds out most significant and constructive road map to solving the problems as the issue is brought to national level, deliberated at academic level participated by experts, scholars and professional academicians.
The Organizing Committee invites research papers on one of the sub themes. All submissions must be the original work of the authors and scientifically oriented. No paper that has already been published, accepted for publication, or is currently in review for publishing with another journal will be submitted.
