Biodiversity Conservation is the foremost responsibility of youths for bright future life: Prof. N. Rajmuhon Singh
A One day international online seminar on youth and environment was organised today in commemorate of the foundation day of National Serviced Scheme (NSS), 2021. The International online seminar was jointly organised by the Biodiversity, Ecology and Environment Network (BEENET Manipur, the Pole Star College, the NSS Cell, Manipur University and Department of Yoga, Manipur University, Canchipur. The International Seminar was organised by Dr. Maibam Nodiychand Singh as organising secretary.
In the inaugural session, the speech of the Chief Guest, Prof. N. Rajamuhol Singh, Vice Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University, Manipur grace the message that Biodiversity Conservation is the foremost responsibility of youths for bright future life.The youth, the future barometer of the society to take the major responsibility in safeguarding the environment.
Prof. Debananda S, Ningthoujam of the department of Biochemistry, Manipur University as the President of the function. He express that forest is the lungs of the Earth and the wetland like the Loktak Lake is the Kidney. So, the faith of the Earth depends on health condition of forest and the wetland.
Sri Dipak Kumar, Regional Director, NSS, Regional Directorate, Guwahati and Dr. T. Brajakumar Singh, Joint Director, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Govt. of Manipur were the guests of Honour of the function . Prof N. Muhilal Meitei, HOD, Department of Zoology, Manipur University and Vice-President of BEETNET, Manipur, delivered the keynote speech.
There have been the technical session of the seminar which was moderated by Prof. P. Kumar Retired Prof. of the Department of Life science, Manipur University; the co-moderator was Dr. Senjam Sunil Asst. Prof. Department of Biochemistry, Manipur University and rapporteur was Dr. N. Yaiphaba, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, D.M University.
Altogether five speakers from abroad and from within the country took part in the seminar. They were, Dr. Maibam Nodiyachand Singh, NSS Programme Co-ordinator and head of department of Yoga, Manipur University on the topic-“Youth Volunteerism” ; Dr. H. Narendra, Scientist-D Indian Institute Tropical Meteorology, Pune, Ministry of Earth science, Government of India on the topic-“Global Climate Change & Rainfall” ; Dr. Thangal Yumnamcha, Post Doctoral fellow, School of Medicine, U.S.A on the topic-“Environmental crisis” ; Dr. Rajiv Kangabam , Manager BRTC, KIIT technology business Incubator KIIT University Bhubaneshwar on the topic –“Loktak Lake :A Goldmine for Scientific Research” and Dr. Chingakham Chinglenthoiba (John) Research Associate , National University of Singapore (NUS)on the topic-“Micro plastic is Everywhere” were delivered . The participants were happy to listen to the responsibility of volunteers and new dimensions of environment and biodiversity conservation from the speakers.
Sri S. Bhubol secretary BeeNet Manipur delivered welcome address with valuable notes and Dr. Ng. Jasantakumar, HOD, Department of Political science and NSS-1 programme officer; Pole Star College gave vote of thanks. Dr.Roshni Raj Laksmi. Guest Faculty, Department of Yoga, compare the programme.
A total of 278 persons including academicians in environmental Scientists, administrators, NSS programme officers and Volunteers, faculties of Manipur Universities and abroad have participated in the International online Seminar.
