The National Awards, 2019 instituted by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, in a bid to recognize and encourage the outstanding performers who are involved in the implementation of various Rural Development programmes, was distributed at New Delhi today.
Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Sadhavi Niranjan Jyoti, Minister of State for Rural Development, gave away the awards in a function which was held at C Subramaniam Auditorium, Pusa complex. Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Manipur won a total of eight awards in different categories.
In training, the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Manipur under the Directorate of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Manipur won the Best Performing SIRD in North East and Himalayan Region for imparting the highest number of training programmes as well as providing training to highest number of trainees.
H Balkrisna Singh, Director (SIRD), Manipur received the award and expressed that the recognition is an encouragement and a result of team work. Manipur also qualified in various award categories.
Rural Engineering Department (RED), Manipur won the third position in PMGSY for construction of maximum road length using non conventional construction material (Green Technology) among North East and Himalayan States. Th Nandakishore Singh, Chief Engineer (RED), Manipur received the award.
Manipur also secured the first position under the category of overall performance (small States and UTs) in the implementation of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Rurban Mission (SPMRM). Ibochouba Singh, Co-ordinator collected the award.
In the category of awards for implementation of rural housing scheme particularly PMAY (G), Chandel district was awarded the Best District in the category of construction of one thousand houses target and Krishna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, collected the award.
In the category of rural employment under MGNREGA, Moreh Block secured the 2nd best block in the country for timely payment of wages and Thorchan village under Chakpikarong block of Chandel district as the best performing Gram Panchayat/village authority (hills).
Irengbam Dinesh Kumar, BDO, Moreh, Seiminthang Lenthang, BDO, Chakpikarong and the chief of Thorchan village got their awards.
In the category of individual awards to field functionaries, Amom Bina Devi, Pradhan of Wangoo Gram Panchayat in Moirang block of Bishnupur district received the Best Gram Pradhan Award for successful implementation of rural housing scheme, PMAY(G) and Wahengbam Bimolchand Singh, Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) of Directorate of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Manipur who is currently posted in Moirang block of Bishnupur district, got the award for Best Village Development Official in recognition of his contributions in successful implementation of PMAY(G) scheme in Wangoo Gram Panchayat.
