Rio honour for Manipur half dozen
- Four hockey players, a lifter and archer make it to Olympics contingent

Manipur has lived up to its reputation of being a sports powerhouse, with six of its players being selected for the Indian contingent in the Rio Olympics. The state is contributing four players to the men and women's hockey teams, as well as lifter Mirabai Chanu and archer Bombayla Devi.
What's more, the women's hockey team will be led by Sushila Chanu and Kothajit Singh will compete in the Olympics for the second time. Besides Sushila, midfielder Thokchom Anuradha has also been included in the women's hockey squad, which is making its debut in the Olympics.
"Our boys and girls have proved that Manipur is indeed a sports powerhouse. It is not a mean achievement that one of our girls will be the captain of the Indian Olympics team ," Ksh. Thoiba Singh, also an Olympian and the president of Manipur Hockey, told The Telegraph.
