Humble Appeal to Immediately review the issuance of licensed guns and an increasing availability of unauthorised armed in the state of Manipur.
Youth’s Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) is deeply concern over the increasing crime committed by the individuals who hold licensed gun in the state of Manipur and person holding unauthorised arms.
We have learned from the recent four past incidents in which one person showed gun and robbed an Iphone from a mobile store, one women was shot dead on the night of world cup final, one armed person fired several rounds at a shop and one women was shot dead again on the night of 23rd December, 2022 at Pallel.
The observed incidents are not the sign of good future of the state and need an urgent intervention of the Department of Home, Government of Manipur and the offices of the Deputy Commissioners of different district to review the issuance of licensed gun and to traced the easily available of unauthorised armed in the state of Manipur.
We have a strong fear that there is increasing presence of strong nexus on dealing with the unauthorised guns in the state of Manipur and some section of the society are benefitting from those business, therefore, urgent intervention are in need to review by the aforementioned departments.
Lastly, we would like to appeal the Government of Manipur, Department of Home and Deputy Commissioners of all the districts to urgently review the same and necessary action may kindly be initiated to curb the gun related crime in the state of Manipur.
