Molly
Loss makes us re-evaluate what we hold dear. The tragic demise of deathcore drummer Molly shook Dead Mobster and metal music enthusiast of the scene resulting to the birth of a whole new wave of extreme metal music after him.
Molly was a strong, inexhaustible soul filled with huge compassion and potential. He was one of the soul members responsible for the radical change in bringing the wave of extreme drumming into light. He initiated his prodigal drumming skills from a drum kit presented to him by his father. His father passed away few years after he started rolling off smooth with his kit and so he was determined right then that he had some drumming actions left to cover in his life.
Being influenced by Thrash pioneers such as Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer, Molly started off with his music career with a Thrash metal band named Soul Healer in his early teenage years. Later, after few years of rolling with Thrash music he decided to step up the game to a little heavier form of music. This is where Dead Mobster took its birth, composing of former band mates from Soul Healer.
Resurrecting the Deceased
They made their debut performance at Indi Fest, a self organized event at Chingamakha Basketball Ground, Imphal in the year 2008. While he was in Dead Mobster he also supported and played as a seasonal drummer for Kanglasha. Dead Mobster excogitated their style of music to a very diverse design with their vocals and playing technique.
They were in-fact the first band in the Imphal local scene to bring up such genre of music into light. In spite of their forceful endeavor of pushing the local metal scene skyward with their new style of music it went the other way making them feel like an outcast in various Battle of the bands.
Almost everyone in the crowd, including even the jury members at the Battles, failed to understand their music during the initial periods. Later, not only people started accepting their music but it turned up as the next big thing in the scene. Dead Mobster became the new wave of heavy music.
Right when they were all set to hit studios for their debut EP album after releasing few demos, on 26th June, 2013, a tragic road mishap brought the most heartbreaking turn of events in the Dead Mobster family. Molly passed away that night in the dreadful road accident leaving a permanent scar in the hearts of his family, friends and thousands of other metal music fans around country and an irreplaceable spot in the Mobster’s family.
Metalheads, friends, family and many other people who he touched through their music initiated a candle light vigil in his memory to show their endless love and care. This marked the introduction of a new culture amongst the music fans in the local scene.
“Since this is the first time for a musical journey personally for me to the north eastern hills of Manipur where cloud romance, We at Macropsia are very much looking forward to come and witness the metal scene. Hope to see each and every metal head to support the event”- Laidon ,Bassist (Ex-Plague Throat).
