Nominations are invited for 'SCHOLL Research Challenge 2010'.
Nominations are invited for action based research in development and governance thematic areas within the larger social science research domain. Papers / case studies must demonstrate alternative discourses on problem analyzing and solving development and governance deficits in the region in given thematic areas. Papers / studies must reflect practical, policy & programme impact in addressing development and governance challenges in the region. Papers / case studies must have either demonstrated an idea or topic having practical relevance, or demonstrated or highlighted an already existing case example and submitting the same in the framework of theory & practice.
The Jury shall look for ideas that can bring out solutions to current development & governance challenges in the region.
Nominations are open from September 1, 2010 to December 24, 2010.

Papers / case studies having practical, policy & programme impact in addressing development and governance challenges in the region are welcome. Papers / case studies must have either demonstrated an idea or topic having practical relevance, or demonstrated or highlighted an already existing case example and submitting the same in the framework of theory & practice.
Studies and practices that capture the problem identification and problem solving aspects of issues will be preferred.

About SCHOLL Research Challenge
The SCHOLL Research Challenge 2010 recognizes high caliber research, in twin areas of development and governance that has had or have potential for demonstrated impact on policy or society at large, has contributed or contribute to the efforts in scaling up development and governance practices in policy settings, or programme implementation.
The Research Awards will be given to the submission that best demonstrates the impact of research on decision-making within – and understanding of the issues relating to – the public policy and/or dev elopement arena and research impact on programme implementation. The jury will be also looking for sound case studies which show a strong connection between the research and the outcomes.
Categories
Research Awards will be given in six key thematic areas namely, especially highlighting good practices and models towards sustainable outcome in the medium and long run:
- Good Governance practice including e-Governance & public service delivery
- Sustainable Development & Preserving the Ecosystem
- Livelihood & Enterprise Development
- Macro & Micro Economic growth & Management
- Education & Human Resource Development
- Technology for inclusive development & Innovative Solutions ( including rural technology & Information Communication Technology)
- SRC 2010 is open to current and potential researchers from North East and other parts of India who are into or can undertake research activities focused on North East India
- To win this Awards any submission must show that the research is based on sound technique and method
- Submissions need to clearly demonstrate how the research has contributed to decision-making and/or the issues involved.
- Age : Maximum age limit 40 years
- Entries are welcomed from individuals and/ or group submissions
- Co-authors are allowed for submissions.
- Research papers: to be submitted neatly typed in soft copy – 8 to 10 pages maximum with 1.5 spacing in times new roman 12 sized font
- Proper footnotes and endnotes with bibliography has to be placed in appropriate sections and context
- Diagrams, charts, figures need to be added wherever necessary to qualify text and research points
- Word limit : 5000
- Cover page ;
- Support letter of nomination from two heads of academic institutions / recognized, public agencies in social research and activities;
- Curriculum vitae of nominee;
- Evidence of the candidate's research activities or related areas over a period of approximately 1-3 years;
- Proof of Age;
- Selected papers will be given a cash award of Rs. 25,000 along with a SCHOLL Research medal and SCHOLL certificate of honour.
- There will likely be 4 non-cash jury awards recognizing special initiatives
- The SCHOLL Research Conclave 2010 will coincide with SCHOLL Research Awards 2010
- The Research Conclave will be a one day deliberations on theory and practice of development and governance research within larger social science research domain
- Winners of 2010 SCHOLL Research Challenge will be given a time slot to briefly present the highlights of their paper / case study
- The Conclave will culminate in the SCHOLL Research Awards 2010 evening.
- Nomination for entries opens from: September 1, 2010
- Last date for submission of papers: November 15, 2010
- Grand Jury : November 24, 2010
- Final event with a full day research conference followed by evening ceremony: December 2, 2010 ; Venue (to be decided shortly)
