Introduction
People use to talk about science and hence industrial revolution and so on for development of society. This may be translated to the development of science to develop society. This is how University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi has established some focused Inter-University Centers (IUCs) at some selected locations in India with an aim to enhancing the level of (scientific) research in the universities. This piece of writing is aimed at introducing about such opportunities for those people who would be of interest to get enhancement in their research activities.
This author (http://www.csr.ernet.in/csr/indore/facilities/ltl/profile.html),
stationed at Indore center of UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research (abbreviated as CSR), is interested in providing awareness to the interested people.
For details, the interested person may visit the website http://www.csr.ernet.in/
from where he can get links of different IUCs as well.
CSR at Indore is based on the state of the art research facilities based basically on Condensed Matter Physics/ Materials Science with low temperature and high magnetic field facilities and synchrotron radiation sources (at Raja Ramanna Center for Advanced Technology, Indore) and is open to university/ college faculties.
Procedure
The brief procedure for utilizing this facility is
(1) to submit a user form (available at http://www.csr.ernet.in/csr/indore/download/download.html).
(2) Based on the information provided in the user form, the concerned scientist-in charge shall provide a (mutually) convenient date or duration.
(3) The university/ college scientist/ faculty can accordingly visit the center.
(4) If he is interested in getting the TA (limited to sleeper class) and local hospitality from CSR, he shall get it upon his request for it.
(5) He can get as many measurements done as the CSR has facilities upon mutual agreement or convenience without any payment but with acknowledgement on the work or on collaborative basis depending on the amount of the work done or interactions.
It is aimed at getting qualified for publications in journals of high impact factors, which requires both new and interesting results plus good art of writing that in turn needs constant practice.
Fellowships
Further, CSR use to select project staffs (MSc Physics) once every year (around July/August), leading to Ph D degrees of Devi Ahilya University, Indore with usual fellowship as per the UGC rules; fellowship is provided to even without NET qualified candidates also but the fellowship amount is less than those of NET qualifiers.
