Republic Day celebrated at Chandel
District administration, Chandel celebrated the 68th Republic Day at Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School ground, Chandel today.
Deputy Commissioner Shri Bobby Waikhom, IAS unfurled the National tricolour amidst playing of National Anthem by the pipe band party of Assam Rifles. The DC received salute from the march past contingents of ex-servicemen, civil police, Manipur Rifles, NCC Cadets, college and school students, ASHA workers and pipe band party of Assam Rifles. Assistant Commandant of 8th Battalion Manipur Rifles, Shri N Nobin Singh, MPS was the parade commander of the celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Bobby Waikhom urged the people not to forget their fundamental duties as responsible citizens of this great Nation. In his speech, he also mentioned about various welfare schemes taken up by the Government.
The DC also appealed to Chandel denizens to ethically participate in all the elections and extend co-operation to the district administration in making the ensuing 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election free and fair.
Presentations of cultural programmes, distribution of prizes and organising a friendly football match between DC-11 and Village Chiefs-11 were the other highlights of the celebration, witnessed by a huge number of people.
