Rally asks NSCN factions to restrain themselves
Assam Tribune | Dimapur, Dec 28
The people of Zunheboto organised a silent procession through the town today to protest against the unwarranted factional clashes in the district and demand that the factions restrain their cadres and maintain peaceful coexistence.
The situation is reportedly still extremely tense with both factions of the NSCN maintaining their stands, but police sources said it is presently under control.
Even as the splintered NSCN factions – Khaplang and Kitovi & Khole – created some unwanted disturbances with violent clashes in Zunheboto just before Christmas day, the celebration of the festival fortunately passed off peacefully without any incident, except for the mental tension that people of the district had to suffer during what should have been a happy and joyful occasion.
