RIST Talk at MU : Rational points on elliptic curves
Date : 30th September, 2014
INVITATION FOR RIST POPULAR TALK
You are cordially invited to attend the monthly popular talk series organized by the RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (RIST), IMPHAL
Topic:

By:

Abstract:
The question regarding the existence of points with rational coordinates on certain curves known as elliptic curves is a very old one, and still unresolved. We will say a little bit about how these elliptic curves arise naturally in many other problems. Then we will explain the problems and finally talk about some progress made in understanding one of these problems. In the later part of the talk, we will say about the Main conjecture of Iwasawa theory and how it helps in shedding some light to some of these problems.
