The READ Alliance announced the launch of the second Early Grade Reading Innovation Challenge 2015 (EGRIC). The READ Alliance program is an initiative supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Center for Knowledge Societies (CKS). The Innovation Challenge aims to discover, develop, and scale early grade reading innovations for primary school children in India. The last day to submit entries is October 9, 2015.
The innovative entries must lead to positive reading outcomes for children at the school and district level, and/or address a combination of curricular and pedagogic change, teacher knowledge and support. The details on the 2015 Challenge’s focus areas, application process and timeline can be found in the Call for Proposals. A background paper for EGRIC 2015 has been published by the READ Alliance that highlights the systemic challenges in the Indian early reading scenario and also mentions opportunity areas for interventions. Both the Call for Proposals and background paper can be downloaded from https://readalliance.in/pages/innovation.
