All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) and NESO called protest (Dharna) in the front of Raj Bhawan, Itanagar against the racial abuse which lead to a death of young Arunachalee in national capital last month. Many students from several institute participated in the dharna.
NESO team headed by its General Secretary, Shri Prakash Sinam Singh also participated in the event. On behalf of people of the NE region the memorandum constituting relevant demands were placed to the office of state governor by the NESO. The demands such as-
1. Capital punishment to all the perpetrators of the heinous crime at the earliest
2. Stringent action against the police personnel for failure to register case as well as the failure to conduct medical examination following the first assault by the accused persons
3. Errection of a memorial/statue of lt. Nido Tania at suitable location in the national capital so that people are reminded of the tragedy and a message is sent against atrocities on northeasterners residing in the national capital as well as across the country. ^The govt should declare 30th January as national Anti-Racism day in India.
4. Instruction by the Ministry of Humnan Resource Development for inclusion of the NE- Its geographical location, its people, its culture, its ethos, etc in the syllabus of school under all states board and central board including the CBSE and awareness campaign across the country
5. Enactment of stringent racial discrimination as Anti-Racism Act.
NESO secretary general urged all the students and people across the state to stand united against such barbaric act and to fight against it which has drawn a line of racial distinguish to North Easterners. He also questioned the govt. of India for their failure to protect the people belonging to NE. And just few days after the murdered of Lt. Nido Tania, a minor girl of Manipur was raped by the son of landlord. It shows that we the people of NE are still unsafe in national capital. NESO also appealed to the political leaders of the NE region to be united altogether without politicizing the issue. We should work for the people of region rather than the mileage of any political party and their government.

Kamta Lapung, President, AAPSU also addressed the gathering. AAPSU has already endorsed its federal bodies across the nation to launch protest against the racial discrimination done by the mainland Indian. He also questioned the state government and both the Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh doing nothing for the safety of our people.
Issue on muredered of Lt. Nido Tania is not only for his parents but for all the people of North East who are being discriminated for so many years in the national capital and other parts of country, added Biru Nasi, GS, AAPSU.
Is our blood yellow or black? Why they are treating us like we are from different planet, asked a student from NERIST.
Despite repeated offences by the mainland Indian since many years, the govt. of India still fails to protect the people of North East. We are also true Indian in heart and soul and we have full knowledge on culture, tradition, language etc of mainland Indian but why don’t they know about us and don’t respect our life and properties too. That in the recent we have witnessed lots of racial discrimination on north east students’ pursuing higher studies in the national capital.
On 25th Januray 2014 two girls from Manipur were beaten an abuse in the public place and public a mute spectators. The incident was followed the murder of Lt. Nido Tania on 29th January 2014. This too happened in public place and again the public of New Delhi were just a mute spectator. Very recently on 8th Feb 2014, a minor girl aged about 14 years was kidnapped from public place and brutally raped by the son of landlord.
Then again on 10th Feb 2014, two boys from Manipur were beaten up in public without any fault, one boy is critically injured and admitted in the hospital. Is it the price of being an honest and true Indian of NE people, criticized by AAPSU? AAPSU will fight against the racial discrimination till we get justice.
