- Burma Centre Delhi -
July 20, 2011
PRESS INVITATION
Dear Friends,
It is hurting and awful that Government of India has breached its democratic principles by supplying arms and ammunitions fully loaded in 52 military trucks to the world most notorious Burmese military regime recently.
The Burmese military dictatorship will use those arms and ammunitions against the ethnic minority, to assault its own innocent citizens who have been yearning for justice, peace and democracy for many decades.
Systematic human rights abuses and criminal hostilities against the ethnic groups, political activists, journalists and civilians have been committed without a halt by Burma’s Army even after the installation of so-called civilian type government. It is a fact that over 2,200 political prisoners in Burma are still detained in jails.
Supplying arms and ammunitions to the most brutal military dictatorship have grave consequences to millions of innocent lives.
To condemn the undemocratic act of the Government of India, a protest demonstration will be organized as scheduled below:
Date: 22nd July 2011 (Friday)
Time: 11:00 am
Venue: Jantar Mantar
We would like to request to send a reporter/photographer to cover the event in your esteem newspaper/magazine/TV etc in support of our movement for restoration of peace, justice, human rights and democracy in Burma and in the region.
