Probe into Manipur violence
The Telegraph | Khelen Thokchom | Imphal, June 4:
A rise in violence in Manipur's border township of Moreh and its surrounding areas in the past few weeks prompted the Nongthongbam Biren Singh government to constitute a high-level inquiry committee to find out those responsible for the incidents.
Official sources said there were eight bomb blasts in and around Moreh between May 8 and May 20. One of the bombs, believed to be an improvised explosive device (IED), exploded near the Moreh police station.
Official sources said the inquiry committee was constituted after allegations were made that despite having a ceasefire agreement, signed in 2008 with the Centre and the state, members of militants groups got involved in the killing.
