Pranab asks banks improve credit flow to N-E states

Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday asked banks and institutions to step up credit flow to the eastern and north-eastern states.
After a review meeting of credit flow to these states, Mukherjee said banks should increase credit flow in the areas of agriculture, micro, medium and small and increase credit-linkages to self-help groups.
The meeting was attended by chief ministers of West Bengal, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, finance ministers of Orissa, Mizoram and Tripura, deputy chief minister of Bihar, Commerce and industry minister of Sikkim and representatives of Assam and Nagaland.
