Outrageous ban on Mission schools : Holding the future to ransom
- The Sangai Express Editorial :: April 18 2015 -
This is outrageous. That is banning Mission schools for reasons that are equally nonsensical.
It seems that there are elements out there who are hell bent on destroying the very institutions which are responsible for producing some of the finest students Manipur has seen.
First it was a student organisation and this time it is a banned organisation which has sprung up under the pretext of doing something good for the public.
Banning schools is something far removed from doing anything good for the people and society as a whole.
As usual both sides have their side of the story but it is unacceptable when anyone comes under the idea that schools or educational institutions can be closed down or banned in pursuit of one’s demand.
This is what has been happening to numerous Mission schools in Imphal and there is nothing much to suggest that the ban will be lifted anytime in the future.
And to think that the ban has been imposed when quality education has become the by word for everyone here and it should be obvious that there are some elements out there who will go to any length to sabotage the future of young students.
In banning these schools, it is the interest of the young students which has been compromised.
It is as simple as this and one wonders why such a simple fact has blown over the heads of the people who have imposed the ban.
Something has to give and it is a wonder why the numerous civil society organisations have not raised a voice of protest even now.
Selective silence of the people coupled with the indifference of the Government.
What is stopping the State Government from coming forward and doing something to resolve the matter and send out the message that no one has the right to play around with the future of the youngsters ?
This silence and indifference is unacceptable. Forget about the service rendered by the Mission schools to educate the young minds.
No one has the right to impose their writs and diktats on any educational institutions.
This is a given and the sooner everyone come around to this idea, the better it would be for everyone.
The outfit which has imposed the ban on these schools too need to come to their senses.
Banning schools is not the answer to anything.
It not only belittles the grand ideas and aspirations which they have been raising from the roof tops at every given opportunity but also makes a mockery of education.
Or is it a case of these people not really understanding what education is all about ?
Time for everyone to realise that no one has the right to play around with the future of young students and banning schools, on any reason, is unacceptable in this age and time.
Call off the ban for schools are not venues to play out differences.
