I always wonder why we "the Manipuris" are not making any headway despite having such an extraordinary love for our motherland an intense feeling to do so much for her!
When we were KIDS, our own grandmas and grand dads used to tell a lot FUNGAA-WAARI and one of those which struck a chord with me was about this " HEI LEIRA THANG LEITA..THANG LEIRA HEI LEITA" in either of the case "the HEI" cannot be taken. No wonder our own forefathers had the same problems then too!
It is not just a mere coincidence to find our own people patriotic to such degrees, so desperate to do something for Manipur but without the resources to carry out THEIR thoughts, ON THE OTHER SIDE THERE ARE people with the resources but who just don't think about doing something for Manipur.....
"IN SHORT IF WE HAVE THE THOUGHTS OF DOING SOMETHING WE DONT HAVE THE RESOURCES AND IF WE HAVE THE RESOURCES WE CEASE TO HAVE THE THOUGHTS ...either way we cant do anything for Manipur".
We cant actually find words to explain the phenomena other than saying...something called THAMAIBA or Shemjinba"
Indeed its not uncommon to find a genuinely patriotic guy who used to be poor, underprivileged and deprived but when given the power and the resources to carry out his goals he simply withers in anticlimax...breaking the hopes and aspirations of many of his well wishers who expected so much from him.
Is this some kind of a curse on us? If so we got to get rid of it as fast as we could before it's too late.
Why do we always have to think that "Mareibak nungshiba" is the birthright of only the poor, the deprived and the underprivileged? Don't the rich and the powerful have an equal role to play in their responsibility to our "EREIPAK"?
Indeed it is this notion of indifference of the rich and powerful towards the society, which is partly responsible for the making of an innumerable (Self styled) Robin hoods in our society. Isn't it times enough to bring the "HEI AND THE THANG TOGETHER", HAVENT WE SUFFERED ENOUGH?
Its high time we shed our differences, unite together and start doing something for our "EREIPAK" which gave us THE VERY BLOOD RUNNING THROUGH OUR VEINS. Isn't it time enough to start repaying some of her "LAMAN"?
Its A SINCERE appeal to those who are resourceful to at least start doing something in OUR respective leikais, for if we can't help our own brothers and sisters, we can't expect outsiders to help us. For those living abroad leaving behind their souls in Manipur, pliz try to make some connection with the brothers and sisters of your own leikais, if we try there isn't any lack of true patriots ANY leikais who are willing to do anything for Manipur, (but without any resources)...
It may look surprising, but lets face it, the problems in Manipur are not just about getting freedom but also because of the "RICH POOR DIVIDE" in the society. Bridging the gap between the two will help a long way in the ultimate peace and prosperity of Manipur.
Lets just give it a thought.
"ARENT WE SO FORTUNATE TO BE BORN IN MANIPUR?
WITH SO MANY OPORTUNITIES TO PROVE OURSELVES...WITH A CORNUCOPIA OF THINGS TO DO.. THAT WE NEVER HAVE TO BE AT A LOSS ON WHAT TO DO
THE OPPORTUNITIES TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF SO MANY PEOPLE...
THE OPPORTUNITIES, WHICH CAN EASILY GIVE THE MEANING OF LIFE TO ALL OF US
THE MEANING, WHICH WILL HELP, LEAVES THIS WORLD WITH SMILES ON OUR LIPS!!
