Our Brothers Fighting For Our Cause
– Or Are They? -
By Sanzib Roy *
Our newspapers and the electronic media today stand to lose their credibility if they fail to report at least one
incident of violence or death caused due to the 'revolution' brought in by our rebel brothers!
But I find it hard to resist my temptation to ask the following questions -:
- Who are they really fighting for?
- Is it really 'US'?
- Then how come we have to pay the price with our own blood?
- Why if their revolution is for a good cause, creating so much of pain and agony to us?
- Why is it that the general public has to pay the price of it?
Over the past few years we always ran the risk of losing our lives while venturing out in the evenings. It was as though these militants (oops, Sorry!) - Our savior brothers had taken over our lives.
Everything, every single schedule had taken to be changed in order to reach the safety of our homes at twilight. People stopped venturing out after 8 p.m. and it was as though the city became dead as twilight drew its dark blanket over the state.
It however, never occurred to our brothers how much trade was affected or how the organizations that provide employment to so many people would function profitably. It never occurred how much they were affecting the economy of the state with all the unnecessary bans in various products. Ok,
I agree that we don't want that the people from the other state should settle here or start doing business earn money in the state but in that case can I ask one question that –
- Are we self-sufficient to survive without the help of the other state of the country?
- Are we not dependent on many things right from medicines to medical equipments, oil to building materials, vehicles to vegetables and so on the other states ?
But for that we need to prepare ourselves first and I am sure that it can't be done with the gun or muscle power for that we need to think about industrialization, road connectivity, how to be more productive, produce more , be professional and do the right things at right time. Otherwise I don't think we are going towards the right path.
Can't we think of starting different industries in the state (we have plenty of resources) or inviting some groups to start their business by which we can at least solve certain percentage of unemployment.
Any one can build a better image by forcing the authority to do certain jobs to be done in time or should be completed in targeted time e.g. repairing of different roads including highways, patient care in different govt. hospitals or up-gradation of hospital equipments and proper use towards the patients or other departments to implement projects in time.
For me it is the better way to improve the image or be successful in brand building amongst the general public. Is that really a bad idea to think a bright future about our next generation (may be he or she will be your son or daughter).
Would you like to ask your children to join the lives you are leading? Any way the answers can be given by them only, neither I am capable to judge or should comment.
But what I want to highlight that as if all of these were'nt enough to throw our lives into disarray, they have now started targeting hospitals. I mean recently they ended up blasting explosives at RIMS.
Prior to that they thought charging from the water tanker from which the hospitals were also not been excused. I mean don't they understand the very purpose and the gravity of the situation that hospitals function but at all.
I think I have never heard that any organization has asked to shut down the Hospitals or stop water supply, fire service or something related to the life or death to the general public. Is it creating a better image of any organization?
How can they even fathom to think of jeopardizing the lives of so many thousand of sick and ill patients just for their own selfish motives?
- This isn't helping our society!
- Neither do we need this kind of revolution.
- Can they find one single mortal being from the masses who will support their actions?
It's doing no one any good. We would be happy to have the old times back....and at the same time we want to be economically self sufficient, technologically advanced and at per with the rest of the world.. so that we can proudly say that yes we are the best in every aspect.
- A brother very much in pain with the ongoing developments.
