Officer suspended for PM's speech interpreter

Fixing the responsibility of hiring a “very weak interpreter” for translating the speeches of Prime Minister and UPA chairperson into Manipuri during the public meeting held at Kangla Fort on December 3, a senior lady officer of Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Manipur has been placed under suspension from her services Monday.
On Saturday last, the speeches of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chief Sonia Gandhi were badly translated into Manipuri.
DIPR minister TN Haokip has been asked to take action against erring officer responsible for the hiring the inexperienced interpreter. The higher authority fixed the responsibility to Assistant publicity officer (Press), Lalrongbawl Hmar who has been placed under suspension from her service with effect from Monday.
