TODAY -
Of Butterflies and Rain
K. Radhakumar *
(1)
He is an old man
Who thinks he was
A twenty-five-year-old man
Newly married
And with a secure job.
He lies down on the soft grass
Of his garden full of life
And sees butterflies flying
All over the place.
Does he see
Butterflies flit from flower to flower.
(2)
Today dreams of tomorrow
Of a bright tomorrow
A day brighter than today.
The sky grows dark
And it begins to rain.
Tomorrow lives in the past
And smiles at the remembrance
Of the first kiss.
The fond memories of the boyhood days
Of yesterdays now dead,
Ah! That's life.
