Observation of World Wetlands Day, 2015 at Thinungei

The future of humanity depends on wetlands, yet the general public’s are largely unaware of these vital benefits. In this regard, as a part of the global celebrations of the “World Wetlands Day, 2015”, the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) in association with the Pole Star Guardians’ Association, Thinungei(POSGAT), Centre for Conservation of Nature & Cultivation of Science(CCNCS) and Indian Bird Conservation Network(IBCN) is organising , the “World Wetlands Day,2015” on 2nd February, 2015 at Tumurakpa ground , Thinungei, the only natural shoreline of Loktak Ramsar.
We are asking for your help in turning the tide and helping to create awareness of just how our Loktak is essential for future and specially looking aim at the target group of tomorrow: youth aged 15-24.
The teens and young adults have a growing interest in environmental issues, are tech savvy, and have a strong belief in their own ability to make a difference.
Crucially, they also act as “transmitters”, spreading the word to their families and friends, causing a ripple effect that reaches the wider public.
The main events of the programme are:
* Migratory Bird Watching
* Wetlands Photography Competition
* Painting Competition
* Popular Talk series
* Cultural programme
* Loktak Musical Night
Kindly ask your students to participate in a big way in the various programmes of this event as enclosed herewith.
