Northeast parties back Telangana state demand
Assam Tribune | Agartala, Oct 5 (IANS):
Several tribal political parties in northeast India have extended support for the carving out of a separate state of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.
In separate statements issued Wednesday, the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) of Assam, the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) and the Kuki Revolutionary Front (KRF) of Manipur have supported the demand for a separate state of Telangana.
Demanding the constitution of State Reorganisation Commission (SRC) to look into all the demands for separate states in different parts of the country, ABSU president Pramod Boro said: "In case of Telengana, Bodoland in Assam and other separate states' demand, the centre has been playing step-motherly and irresponsible politics."
