New Record By Manipur Postal Dept: 757 People Insured At RPLI Camp At Mayang Imphal

A new record was created by Manipur Postal dept for very first time by covering 757 persons with new policies under Rural postal life insurance scheme in a special campaign organised in Mayang Imphal. This has been done for the first time During the camp 53 Recurring Deposit accounts and 42 Savings Bank accounts were opened on the spot.
This special campaign was launched in here for promotion of Postal Life insurance schemes and other flagship social security schemes including Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). In camp 36 person were covered under PMSBY accounts. Shri Vinod Kumar, Director (Posts) Manipur inaugurated the function as President while Md. Sikander Ali, Pradhan, Hayel Hangoon Gram Panchayat was the Chief Guest and Shri M. Rameshwar, SDPO Mayang Imphal Police Station was the Guest of Honour.
Dr. Rheizuddin Sheikh, Principal Manipur College was also present as Special Invitee. Shri Kumar intimated the Department of Posts is working hard to promote social security schemes to spread awareness in every nook and corner of the Manipur state and this camp at Mayang Imphal is a step in this direction. He mentioned that under PMSBY, one can insure against accidents for Rs. 2 lakhs by paying just Re.1/- per month while one can get life insurance at Rs. 28/- per month under PMJJBY. He appealed to all the public to take advantage of such useful government schemes.
On this occasion, Shri Vinod Kumar presented awards to star performers of the post dept as a measure of motivation. Shri L. Tiken Singh, Asstt. Supdt. Of Posts, Manipur also spoke about Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) which gives more bonus at low premium. PLI can be availed by any person who has a govt or semi-govt jobs, nationalised banks, aided colleges etc while RPLI is meant for rural people at very low premium but high bonus. During the camp 15 SSY accounts were opened for girl childs.
Md. Nasir Ahmed, Inspector of Posts, spoke on Sukanya Samridhi Yojana (SSY) which is meant for girl children under 10 years and gives an interest rate of 9.2 % compounded annually. He said that this scheme is especially applicable for the parents who wants to plan for the future of the girl child after 21 years. With this Yojana, the child will get Rs. 6,16,000/- when she attains the age of 21 years if the parent can deposit Rs. 1000/- per month for 14 years. Thus it can be utilised for her higher studies or a bright future.
Shri Th. Gandhi, Marketing Executive gave a presentation on Post Office Saving schemes like Recuring Deposit (RD) and Saving Bank (SB). He intimated that under RD, if a person deposit Rs. 100/- every month for 5 years, he or she will get a sum of Rs. 7450/-. Md. Sikander Ali, Pradhan, Hayel Hangoon Gram Panchayat expressed happiness at conducting such a Mela at Hayal Hangoon and Mayang Imphal as it gives awareness of the various useful social security schemes to the local people.
Shri Kumar, Director congratulated Md. Riyajuddin, IPO 3rd Sub Division for the successful reation of record. Shri kumar intimated that directions for organisation of these campaign have been given to all sub divisional heads and camps are being organised in various parts of Manipur.
