Nepal Tech trains 364 youth in one year

The fourth batch of students at Don Bosco Technical School Thecho in Kathmandu completed their training and were handed Certificates at the Valedictory function held on 15th October, 2012. In the first year of its existence, DB Thecho has skilled a total of 364 young people who hailed from various parts of the Himalayan country - Nepal to enter the competitive job markets.

“Nothing in this world is unachievable, if there is hard work and determination in you,” said founder director of Horst Kerlin Gellert Foundation Mr Horst Gellert handing over the certificates to the students. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Kerlin.

During the programme five girls from the tailoring department, who completed their training and have acquired sufficient skill to work on their own, were handed new sewing machines.

The director, Fr Jijo John thanked DB Thecho training partners FUNECH- Future and Lofty Technologies Pvt. Ltd for rendering their help for skilling the young people.

He also thanked the staff and students for their whole hearted co-operation and wished the students best of luck in their new work environment.

The assistant director Fr Savio Rai gave out the details of the next session and told the students to spread the name of DB Thecho so that more young people may benefit from its training programs.

Don Bosco Thecho, Nepal commenced its Technical and Vocational Training in November 2011.

Many of the students who passed out of DB Thecho institute have been able to set up their own workshops like tailoring, mobile repairing centers, in their own localities. DB Thecho trains students in Basic Computer Application, Computer Graphics, Tally Accounting, Computer Hardware, Building Electrician, Industrial Electrician, Mobile Repairing, Welding, Carpentry and Diploma in Fashion, Apparel and Lifestyle Design.

Most of the trades offered are for a shorter duration and in Modules of Basics, intermediate and advanced courses.

Don Bosco Institute has now the approval of the CTEVT (Council for Technical education and Vocational Training) for various trades and DB Thecho has been chosen as the Skill Testing Centre for Kathmandu Valley for all the trades offered at this centre by National Skill Testing Board.

DB Thecho also launched its new web site: www.donboscoinstitute.com to help youth decide on the trades of their choice, and be informed of its duration and fee structure from home.
