Nehginpao Kipgen invited as a country expert for Burma/Myanmar
November 3, 2014
Nehginpao Kipgen, a political scientist and general secretary of the U.S.-based Kuki International Forum, has again been invited as a country expert for Burma/Myanmar by Varieties of Democracy (https://v-dem.net/), an academic collaboration of more than 50 scholars worldwide which is co-hosted by the Department of Political Science at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and the Kellogg Institute at the University of Notre Dame, USA.
In its invitation letter dated November 3, 2014, project coordinator Josefine Pernes wrote: “Thanks to you and Country Experts all over the world, data collection has been successfully completed for 168 countries. This is a great achievement, and we are very grateful for your support. The V-Dem database now contains some 15 million data on democracy! In the previous phase of the data collection, data was collected for the time period 1900-2012. We are now going to update the data with the most recent years, 2013 and 2014” and we “invite you to the Project (V-Dem) as a Country Expert for Burma/Myanmar.”
In response to the invitation, Kipgen in his Facebook page wrote: “I feel honored and humbled to be invited as a country expert for Burma/Myanmar for the second time. It is an immense pleasure to be able to help researchers and academics around the world on issues pertaining to Myanmar.”
Kipgen was first invited as a country expert for Burma/Myanmar in 2013 for the time period 1900-2012.
