National Voters' Day: 25 January
Lunminthang Haokip *
1. Best thoughts of wise men left a legacy;
Tests of time brought to us democracy.
This type binds men in fest of liberty;
And misdeeds are hyped to hold one guilty.
To devote in and fill booths we’re enrolled;
And to vote and spill the truth we are called.
Come young India, let us all have a say;
With song, let’s hail National Voters’ Day.
Pet ills fit men-in-fray can bring to naught;
Lit will land be by right use of the ballot.
That voting for New India be a heart-cry,
Growing youth must back ideals of ECI.
2. The youth wields zeal that heels poll-drive;
The fruit will be real when pure rolls are ripe;
New tech that cradles poll-fare to ways fair,
Fresh voters can best handle and to all share.
Let’s get more digital and with wit buckle
Matters of deep ethics rolled out to tackle.
3. January Twenty five has come to stay;
All eighteen to twenty must join and say:
Great’s our nation where we are free to vote
And, with passion, to any faith devote.
In big welfare State that God blessed us with,
Seek we must fair spheres to in peace live with.
