National Fact-Finding Team on Manipur Government's Five Star Hotel Land Acquisition
Disclosing the Hidden Agenda at Press Conference
A National Fact-Finding Team led by Dr. John Dayal, member of National Integration Council, New Delhi visiting state capital city Imphal on July 27, 2011 to find out the decision taken by Manipur Government to convert Imphal Hotel up to five-star category by acquiring Naga River colony, also known Kabo Leikai, situated behind Imphal Hotel and 2nd Assam Rifle.
The current Imphal Hotel is located at 4.5 acres of land, which is slightly smaller than the The Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi where US President stayed in his last visit. Delhi has eight times larger population than Manipur and hundred times crowded in terms of tourists and international visitors. The size of the present area acquired by Imphal Hotel and surrounding government owned land is more than enough for the proposed five-star hotel. There is a hidden agenda on Manipur Government's plan to convert Imphal Hotel up to five-star category.
The fact-finding team will be joined by Madhu Chandra - Spokesperson of North East Support Centre & Helpline and Public Relation Officer of All India Christian Council along with many other social workers and human rights activist from different parts of Manipur. The team will visit Naga River Colony at 9 am on June 27 and public disclosure at Press Conference.
Fact-Finding Visit at Naga River at 9 AM, June 27, 2011
Press Conference: At Press Club, Major Khul, Imphal
At 1 PM, June 27, 2011
