National Christian Leaders Meeting with Union Home Minister on 14 Oct 2016 at New Delhi

We have sent out the invitation repeatedly to Indian Christian Leaders Meeting with Hon'ble Union Home Minister Sri Rajnath Singh and Hon'ble Member of Parliament Dr. Udit Raj led by Most Rev. Joseph D'souza, President of All India Christian Council and we want to bring a brief report on the event. The video clips and photos of the events are available at the two links below:

We had a huge response from Bishops, pastors, church heads and mission leaders representing the major denominations and independent churches across the nation. We expected 1000 leaders but ended having the total 1300 delegates from different states of India, including the state presidents, state secretaries and other state office bearers of All India Christian Council and churches in and around Delhi and National Capital Region. The hall was packed and the delegates had to manage with the seating arrangement and some had to stand.

The event was hosted by 60 local organizing committee coordinated with the Head Office of All India Christian Council. Each and every member of the local organizing committee work hard in making the historic event.

The event was very important both for the Christian churches in India as well as for the government of India. The meeting highlighted two every important issues of the Christian communities. First the issues and challenges faced by the Christians as a fringe section of anti social elements have been attacking on the Christians that the Christian community sought the protection from the government of India. Secondly the Christian commitment in nation building through the services that the Christian churches have been rendered to the nation.

We are grateful to the Government of India, particularly the Home Ministry for giving us the access at the time of need. Lastly, not the least, all these were possible, because of the help and initiative of Dr. Udit Raj, the Hon'ble Member of Parliament and National Chairman of All India Confederation of SC/ST Organizations (http://www.scstconfederation.in/), we are so grateful for his leadership and help always.
